Please take a moment to look at the suggestedelastic optionslisted below and note your preference in the notes box at checkout.
Adjustable elastic with toggle-Sturdier, slightly thickercotton elastic recommended for heavy use of single mask, or those concerned with elastic size.(Our preferred choice)
Closed loop elastic-Our original and default option, recommended for light use of mask. One size fits most.
Latex-free elastic-Limited amount available, reserved for those with latex allergies
Earloop elastic-Not recommended for this style of mask, but is still an option for those who have a preference for this elastic type. Earloop elastic is thinner than head loop elastic.
Additional alteration option: Add a filter pocket. Leave note at checkout. Fabric masks, while acceptable for the pandemic, are not effective for keeping your lungs safe from wildfire smoke. At your request, we can add a pocket for your own pm2.5 filter, which should help with smoke if you are unable to find an n95 mask or higher.
We realize a lot of people are going through difficult times financially, and we want to ensure that everyone who needs a reusable mask can get one. For this batch of masks, we are offering two pay-what-you-can options:
$10- this covers materials and our time to make the mask.
$15- for those who would like to purchase a mask and cover the cost of someone else who is in need in past and future batches of masks, and for those would like to support us during this time. (If you would like to donate more to cover more masks, please let us know! You can add a tip to your order hereif you would like.)
(Please note that ALL of these price points are for one (1) single mask.)
We encourage you to wear your mask while shopping, spending any time with others outside of your household, while wildflower viewing, and more. While no mask can ensure complete safety, they help protect others by reducing the spread of germs from large droplets. They work best when everyone is wearing them. The safest thing you can do is stay home if you are able to, keep 6 feet distance from others, cough into your elbow (even with a mask), and wash your hand for more than 20 seconds frequently.
In an effort to get these out as quickly as possible, orders will come with a single printed sheet of instructions for wear and care of your mask. If you would like more printed instruction sheets, you can download and print your own here! If you would like the masks to be bagged individually with biodegradable plastic bags for distribution to others, let us know.
Species featured on the California Pollinators mask include: Western tiger swallowtail, pipevine swallowtail, monarch, dogface butterfly, California sister, bay checkerspot, Xerces blue, black-tailed bumble bee, faithful leafcutting bee, baby blue eyes, tidy tips, coyote mint, goldfields.
To put on your mask:
Slide both loops over your head, and pull one loop to the top of your head, and one around the neck.
Press the nose wire around the bridge of your nose (mask should cover your nose and mouth at all times).
To adjust the continuous loop to tighten for a secure fit, you can pull on either the headband or neck loop.
Wash hands before and after touching your mask and sanitize your mask after use with hot water and soap (by hand or in a washing machine).
(Masks should be washed before first use)
